Blagaj, tekija

Blagaj is famous for its 600 years old monastery that sits at the foot of a cliff wall. Blagaj used to be an Illyrian and Roman settlement before the 15th century when Ottomans developed it into a historical treasure with several mosques, madrassas, mills, and stone bridges. It is a striking collection of historic architecture and natural features.

Blagaj is a village in Herzegovina; it is situated 7 km south of Mostar.
There is also the source of the Buna River, which originates from under a cliff that is more than hundreds of meters high.

Out from the source, 43 cubic meters of water per second come out. The Buna is one of the cleanest rivers in this part of Europe and it is rich in fish. If you come to the source it is possible to make picnics, you can walk, make the sightseeing tour of the cultural and historical heritage and see the local culinary offer. The specificity of this area represents the diverse phenomena of surface and groundwater hydrology.
